The rapid increase in criminal activity in the East End had not gone unnoticed by the Batman. The Dark Knight had seen the flow of weapons, drugs, and illegal goods snaking through the city in a definitive pattern. Penguin's men had been selling their arms to anyone willing to pay the price; Black Mask, the Royals, the Maronis...all the powerful mobs in the city.
Royal activity had also been increasing, as the mob saw more chances to lay claim to Gotham. Black Mask and the Penguin were also moving in on West Gotham, and the Falcones were ruling the Bowery with an iron fist. Robin and Batgirl were doing their jobs, but even they needed rest. Tonight was Batman's night out. Alone. He stood on a rooftop in the Bowery, seeing the destruction and chaos propagating through the streets below. Thugs with guns roamed the streets, guarding their turf from any prospective intruders. Brutal thugs and psychopathic serial killers lurked around every corner, waiting for any victim to pass by. The occasional civilian hurried along the roads, anxious to get out of Gotham's unforgiving streets. Cars passed by in the empty and lifeless streets, headlights shining across the black alleyways.
Batman then spotted some Royal mobsters exchanging illegal drugs in an alley. He dropped down into the alleyway, into the middle of the circle of gangsters.
"Damn...the Bat is real," one of them remarked.
"We should run!" Another exclaimed.
"Kill it!" A third one snarled.
The thugs lunged all at once, but Batman countered with a quick flurry of blows that knocked them back. This was all too easy for the Caped Crusader, who had no difficulty in dispatching the thugs with brutal efficiency. He moved like a pure shadow, weaving between them like a dark demon. His strikes never missed their marks, and soon all goons were neutralized. The Royal Family was not going to be pleased with their failed operation tonight.
Batman then turned to see someone standing in the alley.

Ameila had only been in Gotham for a month now. She was still getting use to the place and all of the emotions flying though. Gotham was full of rage, yet their was a small glint of hope, she wasnt to sure what or who it was giving off this ora but she wanted to find it. So she had excused herself from work and headed out. Amilea walked down the streets looking for that blue ora that she saw little of. As she made her way to an ally where some thugs had been she easily recognized them as part of the Royal mob.
The blonde haired girl walked up to the group. "What are you guys doing out here?" the girl asked as the men turned and looked at her, one of them smirked and the other two backed away. One that had backed away smiled and answered the girl. "Nothing Princess, really we were just um, doing what we were told to be doing." Millie glanced at him, than at the other two. Nodding she walked away. "Okay." As the girl walked down the ally she heard something behind her and than what seemed to sound like a fight scene, yet that was not what got the girls attention. This was the emotion of hope, and boy was it strong. Ameila turned and ran back down the ally towards the scene.
The ora was coming from...Batman. Amelia watched the man, as he finished taking down the men. than his gaze turned to her, The blonde walked out in to the open. Her blonde hair in pig tails and a cute rock and roll outfit (like her avatar) commented her combat boots. She wondered if the caped man knew that he had something no one else in Gotham had. Batman had Hope.

Batman looked at the girl emotionlessly, his eyes scanning her. He recognized her as the "princess" of the Royal Mob. A namesake that was as meaningless as any other criminal title. The Dark Knight had been monitoring the Royals for quite some time now, to keep track of their activities and such. He did not want them to get out of hand, at any cost. The Caped Crusader remained as calm as ever, betraying no feeling or thought. However, he wondered what the princess of the Royal Family was doing out here alone. Maybe these thugs had been her escorts...or maybe she wanted some independence. Being the princess of Marie must get dull at times, Batman thought. All those high expectations and such. He knew that most would crack under the pressure. But her...a little girl of no more than sixteen or seventeen? She was strong. She was a fighter. Bruce could see it in her eyes.
The Dark Knight stepped forward. "Planning criminal activity in the Bowery District is not wise. You of all people should know that," Batman growled. This girl was going to land herself in trouble with the likes of Falcone. That was not wise, even for a Royal Princess. Carmine Falcone was among the most brutal and efficient mob bosses in Gotham...if this girl was in his clutches...well, it wouldn't end well. Falcone didn't like competition. At all. No mobster of Black Mask or Zoey Marie was safe in Bowery,

Amelia looked at batman, the girl made her way up to him and stared at him. Amelia was an out cast in Gotham, even in her own family. She wasn't surprised when Batman started talking about the crime activity. More like she assumed he was going to try and throw her in jail like the others. "I know you think I am with them." the girl said as she pointed at the thugs batman beat up. "I'm actually just walking from the cafe with milkshakes, and i felt your ora and had to find it." The girl knew how hard it was to come by hope, after all she could feel all the emotions on earth, yet hope was hard to find. She even knew that their were few blue lanterns.
The girl knew little about batman, but she did believe in him. All the kids at school believed batman was just a myth. Amelia was glad to hear about batman and hoped that just maybe he was the key she needed to find her way between the confusion in her life. the girl looked up at batman with her light blue eyes. the girl raised her hand and spoke. "My name is Amelia, some times people call me Misery." She hopped that he would not hate her like he did the others. but she was ready for anything. If he insisted on fighting her she had a lot of tricks up her sleeves.

Aura...? Batman was skeptical, but he did know that many things were possible. This girl in front of him...there was something different about her. Something powerful, and potentially dangerous. Batman listened to her as she introduced herself. Amelia....Misery.... What had set her on this path where she had to enforce the mob's laws? Was it a traumatic event, like him? Or simply a long-term deal? Batman did hope that this girl did not have to go through what he went through to become Batman. People may now have known it, but being Batman was a burden.
Bruce hated it.
He hated the helmet, the cape, the armor. He had sworn to never allow what happened to him to happen to another kid. Perhaps Amelia was on her way to becoming something she hated, too. Batman could see a fire in her eyes, a proud and inextinguishable fire. This was a kid that would not go down without a fight. Batman remained expressionless. "Tell Marie to keep her men under control. Or I'm coming for her next," Batman growled.

Ameila sighed. "Alright batman, I will tell her." With that the girl looked rather disappointed, maybe she hopped that he would see that she really didnt want anything to do with the mob but yet here he was, asking her to go back. Amelia liked Royal Secrets, she loved her father, godmother and her godbrother, but she didnt like the pain that followed being in the mob. Amelia didnt mind going back to the club but she did hope that one day she would have hope like batman did. She was just filled with every emotion under the sun.
The girl turned from batman and with out another word she walked in front of the bat.. "Batman, don't ever give up hope. One day your hope will save us." Lightly she reached in to her pocket and pulled out a small device. "It's small but it is powerful enough to kill me and my power. I trust that you will use it if I ever become to much of a problem to you." the girl than turned from him, and walked away. "Batman, Watch out for the shadows. Your not the only one living in them. I fear my Dark Angel will kill you if he learns you have that device." With that said a tear rolled down her cheek, She knew that one day her emotions would get the best of her and that she would hurt the people around her.
Now the bat had a way to stop her. lightly she whispered. "I'm not the bad guy batman."

Batman took the device and pocketed it. "If I allowed myself to kill you, then I would never be able to return from that path," Batman said. "There are reasons why I chose not to take lives. If I hadn't...you would already be dead." The Dark Knight did not want to scare Amelia, but she needed to know that killing was not his way of doing things. When she spoke of a dark angel guarding her, Batman narrowed his eyes. Who could this person be...? Perhaps Amelia was referring to her godmother, Zoey Lynn Marie. She was a mob queen, and a good one. Her methods were efficient and brutal. She was a threat...but Batman also had other problems.
Batman then pulled Amelia into the shadows as a car skidded to a stop in front of the alley. Some of Marie's thugs stepped out and inspected the unconscious bodies of their comrades. "What the hell happened here?" One of them asked.
"Was it Black Mask...?" Another inquired.
"Maybe it was the Bat," a third one replied.
"Don't be stupid, the Bat isn't real," the first one scoffed.
The thugs left, muttering to themselves that they should tell Zoey. Batman stepped back into the light with Amelia.

Amelia wasn't scared of batman, she could never be scared of a hero like him. He was hope in a place full of anger. "I trust you will do the right thing if." Soon a familar car pulled up and some of her godmothers workers walked out. Millie shrugged it off, it wasn't her job to keep track of the mob, her job was to look cute and pass school.
Once the guys were gone she looked up at batman. "Is there anything else you want to know batman?" Amelia looked in to the shadows and saw a figure, the figure was the shape of her father and the girl smiled. "Maybe we can talk some other time batman, Daddy is here to pick me up." Soon the girl hugged batman and ran to the shadows where both figures soon diapered.
